Promax RG3000
RG3000

A half-sized refrigerant recovery machine from Promax promises to “rewrite the rule book” for UK air conditioning engineers

Tipping the scales at just 8kg, and at half the size of the previous smallest Promax unit, the new RG3000 is by far the world's smallest and lightest refrigerant recovery machine – similar in size to a loaf of bread.

Moreover, new vibration-isolating design features ensure the RG3000 is also steadier and quieter than other models.

The improvements are down to a radical rethink of conventional machine layout and compressor design, stripping out all wasted space, while simultaneously improving internal air cooling, further enhancing efficiency.

Importantly, however, the new unit retains all the key strengths associated with its bigger brothers in the Promax range: rugged, blow-moulded construction, the world's most robust, field-serviceable compressor, and the unique ability to pump liquid directly, straight through the machine.

Advanced Engineering launches world's first coil cleaner registered for food preparation and storage areas.

Refrigeration engineers on sites where food is handled no longer need to choose between closing production and risking food hygiene.Because unlike other ACR chemicals, CoolSafe cleaners can be used safely on food handling premises, without closing down production, because they are registered with the international NSF non-food compounds programme.

Specially formulated for food refrigeration systems, CoolSafe coil cleaner uses naturally occurring food-grade acids to remove all common contaminants left by foodstuffs and other organic materials on cooling coils, with minimum risk to the engineer and environment.

Although designed for use in food-preparation and storage areas, such as display cabinets, walk-in refrigerators and freezers, its unique formula is powerful enough to be used in food-sensitive air conditioning applications.

EndoFlush

Remove and replace illegal refrigerants correctly, with the original flushing solvent

It's 2010 and virgin R22 refrigerant (Chlorodifluoromethane) is now illegal for use. In the months and years to come, thousands of systems using this obsolete HCFC will need to be modernised or even replaced completely - creating a welcome wave of work for the industry.

Some of these systems can be retrofitted with 'drop-in' refrigerants, substances with properties similar to R22, to make the transition to compliance. However this method requires a complete oil change, removing older mineral oil and replacing with newer synthetic grades.

Many clients could also make the decision to future-proof themselves with an entirely new system. With the price of copper skyrocketing, most technicians will understandably look to re-use the existing R22 pipework. However, even fully evacuated systems are often still full of contaminants. Notably oil, which will stick to pipe walls, collect in low points and will almost certainly be saturated with latent refrigerant.

For both these options, only a complete system flush will prepare pipework for modern, legal refrigerants. Advanced Engineering has published an article weighing up the benefits and potential problems involved in system flushing.

Advanced Engineering EndoFlush has been trusted by UK service engineers for over a decade, as the only product to completely and thoroughly flush copper tubing.
